Almost Summer!

i am officially almost graduated, there is still the matter of tying the loose ends (such as walking around with a fancy robe and getting it in writing…), but still, i have a Bachelors of Fine Arts!

now what??? (;° 0°)

am i more of an “artist”? maybe less of an “artist”?

who knows?

i do know that now i have to go out there and put my skills and talents to use. i’ll be honest, it’s hard not having deadlines. the body still wakes up at 5:30 a.m., trying to catch the 6:47 express to chicago. there is a sudden feeling of purposelessness, a craving for netflix and buzzfeed lists of pop culture references, and a reluctance to clear of my mod podge crusted desk (and it doesn’t help that it’s been overcast these past few days…)

floating in space.

to be honest, stuff like this is expected. i’ve heard of others having similar symptoms or worst. would it silly to imagine it wouldn’t happen to me? then again, it’s not as bad as it could be! i am posting on my blog, there are notebooks filled with ideas waiting to be executed. it is spring and there is pollen and rebirth in the air. 🙂

while i try to figure this career thing out more thoroughly, heres a lovely picture of a fish i made you guys as well as as a new graphic design gallery (a work in progress) featuring some of my favorite work i did for the aurora public library.

Work for Shows this Feburary

hello friends!
aww rats! wow what a week… i’m all “to-do listed” out. “(⊙_◎)”
in the spirit of the perpetual to-do list i will list off what has been going on since the last post

i think i left off on…
+ first friday’s pin-up show
+ published a facebook page
+ fish dinner w.i.p.
+ battling with a looming cold
+ s.e.a conference friday through saturday
+ 10 girls by 10 women show at the orchard
+ victory for the cold
+ upcoming: midterms…

+ first friday’s pin-up show

this is the piece i made for february’s first friday show in the art bar at the two brothers roundhouse in aurora il.her_circusshe was accompanied by two pieces from previous posts : miss mushroom and miss octella.

second, i also published a facebook “like” page!

this means you can now “like” me as an artist!

there’s also further progress on the fish dinner 3-d piece from the last post:

here are a few pictures courtesy of my ipod, as well as a few i managed to take while working at home on the garnish. the tomatoes are still being perfected and as well as the plans to display this piece. although the plate makes for a charming display i want to display them in a more playful setting. more to come on that subject. (¬‿¬)

an epic fight carries on within my body an in attempt to prevent a takeover of a cold virus… i feel every jab and kick of those bodily acting and reacting…

the s.e.a conference friday through saturday

s.e.a. aka self-employment in the arts is a program to help artists of all kinds with the in’s and out’s of being self-employed. i went to their annual conference this weekend where i spent my friday and saturday gathering gems of wisdom from all sorts of wonderful creatives. If you’re on the self-employed artist boat then i highly recommend this conference. the student rate is $99 for two days, super bargain. there are sooo many presenters of all types covering a wide range of subjects. you won’t be disappointed. i can gush about the meeting for a few more paragraphs but i think i should move on to more art. for more info on s.e.a. visit

anyways, right after the conference i ran right through the shower, put on a clean shirt and than to the opening reception for…

the 10 girls by 10 women show at the orchard

i was also invited to make work for a show called 10 girls by 10 women: 10 women artists created their own artwork inspired by the art of 10 girls. the piece i was granted was by a young girl named claudiaafter quite a while of studying her drawing this is what happened:world for claudiai do hope my interpretation is not too far off what she created. the reception was last night and i am a little bummed out i did not get the chance to meet claudia and her family. the show was quite interesting and it was quite the full house!

fast forward to this morning…

 victory for the cold.

it is amazing how your body fights these things, but after a lot of running around and not sleeping…the cold won. pj’s, fluids, echinacea, mulled wine, swedish bitters and hopefully some rest. mostly unlikely since…

midterms are this week

so.. i’m gonna stop writing now and go work on…

a mock cover letter, an artist statement, a statement on my “medium of choice” *sight*, a fish sculpture, start a piece for march’s first friday *trailing off* lol.

 \(^▽^)/ it’s fun being busy!

take care and see ya soon!

thinking fish

hello hello friends!

ahh my first week jobless since summer and it feels goooooddd. 🙂

heres a little digest of what ive been working on this week!

following the delectable sardine can is this carrot goldfish.

IMG_0555 IMG_0563 this piece is made with watercolor, modpodge and the same types of papers the sardines ones (minus the book sheets). its almost finished just need to pop some things up and work on little details like that. right now i’m a bit scared about what project to start next. it feels like the current project is going so well the next one might suck in comparison.

next, we have a sardine book mark. i needed a bookmark. i made one. i loved it, but it still needs some better engineering as far as the cut out bits go, this is just a prototype. i’m gonna look into some better paper, maybe make little collage-y bookmarks..who knows! a snail and slug version of this is in the works as well.

i just started work on my next school fishy project. its still gonna be a collage piece but with a little more…variety. here are my blank sheets! boy do i have plans for these babies ; )

and on a final note here is my first project of this semester that sorta started my little collage adventure. i call it gold fish pieta! i wanted to go back to what i did in high school and use some new media too.

oohh well that’s that for now!

i gots to go get ready. you see, tonight’s first friday in downtown aurora and i will be showing a bit of work at the roundhouse art bar (a first friday venue)! first friday is aurora’s monthly gallery hop full of art, music, wonderful people and jubilance! if you want to know more visit

more stuff from watercolor 403

another semester is alive and kicking and i am doing my best to keep on making.

i’ve started signing up for a few local art shows and contests. i’m doing my best to push my my career ahead, especially now that graduation is 3 months away. *gulp?/yay!* one way is to maybe post more…i know i constantly say i will, put often don’t. hmmm… better stop being so flaky… :O.

today i’m posting some more stuff from last semester. it was more of a sketchbook/thinking/playing around type semester. it was fun, i made a bunch of small nice pieces that explored some ideas iv’e been having, but i don’t feel i made very many “powerful” pieces. nevertheless, they are enjoyable enough to look at. 🙂

more from my slug collection

some little collage experiments

and a couple of other little paintings of my ladys.

that’s that for now! …gotta get to work!
